Jason has over two decades of accountancy and finance experience gained in London, Edinburgh and Manchester with Deutsche Bank, Baillie Gifford, Edinburgh Partners and, most recently, BNY Mellon where he was Fund Accounting Vice President. Jason has a BSc in Mathematics from Heriot Watt University and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) and PRINCE 2 Practitioner status. Jason has a keen interest in financial technology and works with many clients in this sector.
Prior to founding Steedman & Company in 1987 Ricky worked as an Investigator in the Inland Revenue for over 20 years, giving him the experience and knowledge that’s enabled him to help so many clients over the years when dealing with aggressive HMRC tax inspectors. His appearance on a Channel 4 television programme about the inside workings of Revenue and Customs was watched by 4.1m, sealing his status as one of the most highly respected tax consultants working in Scotland today. Ricky leads all tax investigation and COP 9 cases, using his extensive knowledge to help people reach a positive resolution to their situation.
Craig has over 15 year’s experience of working in the accountancy and investment banking sectors of London, Hong Kong, Singapore and currently Edinburgh. During his 5 years in Singapore Craig held roles with RBS (in Derivatives Reporting), Standard Chartered Bank (Equities Product Controller) and with RCMA Commodities Asia (Finance Consultant). Craig has also held roles in the UK with RBS in the Group Chief Accountants division, responsible for the review of the Group’s loan impairments whilst working closely with the GRG and Risk divisions. Most recently Craig has worked for Lloyds Banking Group in Financial Control. Craig is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA).
Tax Investigation Specialist
Bill gained his considerable experience in tax investigation work of all types while working extensively in the Inland Revenue (now called HM Revenue & Inspector of Taxes) for many decades. Eventually rising to Grade B1, he relished the freedom of leading a number of tax investigation teams. This included teams responsible for large business and corporation tax, offshore tax evasion as well as proceeds of crime. He was, at various times over his 41 years to 2006, a District Inspector, part of the Enquiry Branch (now called Fraud Investigation Service and previously Civil Investigation of Fraud and Contractual Disclosure Facility or COP9) and a Senior Investigator. He was also an Offshore Team Consultant, an Investigation Team Leader and a Training Mentor.
Fiona has worked at Steedman and Company for over 20 years, looking after the VAT and accounts for a vast range of clients and business types. As leader of the VAT team, Fiona is responsible for ensuring that all of Steedman and Company’s VAT clients are up to date with their latest calculations, submissions, and returns on a periodic basis. Fiona also looks after our clients up to the point of final accounts preparation.
Kirstin is Diploma qualified in Human Resource Management and has 15 year’s management experience within a variety of professional sectors. Kirstin is responsible for the day to day running of our busy Howe Street head office, our internal HR function, virtual office, business operations, IT support, compliance and support team. In addition, Kirstin provides consultancy services in HR and Tech support to clients.
Hannah joined Steedman and Company in December 2014 as a trainee accountant. As part of the accounts team, Hannah currently assists the company’s accountants with data input, financial analysis, VAT and accounts preparation. As an important member of the team, Hannah also works on self-assessment for clients, tasks involving financial analysis and Sole Trader and Partnership accounts. Hannah is currently busy studying for the ACCA qualification.
Becky joined Steedman and Company in 2013 direct from school as a trainee in the VAT team. Having worked her way up through various roles in the company, Becky is now responsible for the payroll function as well as providing vital support in all accounting, VAT and tax areas. Becky has completed the Modern Apprentice qualification of SVQ Level 3 Business & Administration, is fully trained in Sage 50 Payroll and is currently working towards her AAT qualification.
